HDDA-XVI

16th Workshop on High-Dimensional Data Analysis

HDDA-XVI will take place at the Department of Statistical Sciences of the University of Padua, in the historic centre of Padova.

Conference Venue

HDDA-XVI will be hosted by the Department of Statistical Sciences of the University of Padua.

Founded in 1222, the University of Padua is one of the oldest universities in Europe and has played a central role in the development of European science and scholarship for more than eight centuries.

The Department of Statistical Sciences is an internationally recognised centre for research and teaching in statistical methodology, computational statistics, economic and social statistics, demography and interdisciplinary data analysis.

The Department is housed in the historic Santa Caterina complex, in the centre of Padova.

Getting to Padova

Padova is located in north-eastern Italy, approximately 40 kilometres west of Venice. The city is served by an extensive railway and motorway network and can be reached conveniently from several international airports.

By Air

Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE): Venice Marco Polo Airport is the most convenient international airport for reaching Padova. A direct Busitalia Veneto service connects the airport with Padova bus station, located next to the railway station. The journey currently takes approximately 45 minutes. Timetables and fares should be checked before travelling, as services may change.

Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ): From Bologna Airport, take the Marconi Express connection to Bologna Centrale railway station and then a direct train to Padova. Bologna Centrale is one of Italy’s principal high-speed railway hubs.

Milan airports: Milan Malpensa (MXP), Milan Linate (LIN) and Bergamo (BGY) airports provide additional options, particularly for intercontinental and low-cost flights. From the airports, participants should first reach Milano Centrale railway station and then take a direct train to Padova.

By Train

Padova is located on the main railway corridor connecting Milan, Verona, Venice and Trieste, and is also directly connected with Bologna, Florence and Rome. Both Trenitalia and Italo operate high-speed and long-distance services to Padova. Frequent regional trains also connect Padova with Venice, Verona, Vicenza and other cities in north-eastern Italy.

By car

Padova lies at the intersection of two major Italian motorways:

The A4 Torino–Trieste motorway, which connects Padova with Milan, Verona, Venice and Trieste;
The A13 Bologna–Padova motorway, which provides access from Bologna and central and southern Italy.

The most convenient exits are generally Padova Est, Padova Ovest and Padova Sud, depending on the direction of arrival.

As the conference venue is located in the historic centre, access by private car may be restricted and nearby parking is limited. Visitors are advised to leave their car in one of the public car parks outside the restricted traffic zone and continue on foot or by public transport. The Department specifically recommends reaching Padova from the Padova Ovest exit, parking at the P1 car park in Via Sarpi and continuing by tram.
